MOUNTAIN
LION HUNTS PAGE
Over the past few years we have had an increasing interest in Bear
hunting among our clients and in the hunting population in general.
We have been expanding our bear operations in order to meet the
rising demand. To accommodate our clients we have three separate
bear hunting areas.
This
Is Hunt #8
We offer a ranch hunt out of our whitebird area - this is our most
modern facility and the hunts are spring hunts which are bait only,
and fall hunts which are bait and spot and stalk. Our Moose Creek
bear hunt is a fly-in backcountry hunt. Because of the rugged terrain,
tree strands overlooking baits is by far the most successful method
and we strategically place the stands to get you the best opportunity
possible. Our pack horseback hunt is located in Boulder Creek, in
the Selway-Bitterroot wilderness of hunting. There we offer either
a lodge hunt and a pack in hunt, where we follow the snow line up.
These
Are Hunts #9 & #10
The bear population in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness area is
very high. Many of our areas have not been hunted for years. Every
year, we try to move into new areas that we can access. The Game
department has done several years of studies on elk calf mortality
by bear during spring calving weeks of life. This has resulted in
a longer bear season, two bear limits and lower tag fees. Also,
these bear hunts have many factors that play into how your hunt
will be arranged: elements such as weather and how well the baits
are being hit in each area will come into play as to where you will
be hunting. We offer three different choices of hunting in this
wilderness area: get to camp by horseback or by fly-in, or stay
at the lodge on the Lochsa river.
We have been baiting bear since 1979, and we produce more trophy
bear than any of our competitors by a large margin. All of our bear
hunts have been close to 100% opportunity, and both Moose Creek
and Boulder Creek are two bear areas. This harvest of bear has brought
our elk numbers back substantially in these areas.
Both the wilderness and ranch bear hunts produce
about 40% color phases with colors ranging from dark chocolate to
cinnamon, blond and red. P&Y and B&C candidates are spotted
every season with several hunters placing their 19" & 20"
bruins in the literature.
We welcome you to join us on a very productive and enjoyable wilderness
experience.
