One of them is sure to satisfy your craving for mountains, rivers, or wilderness.  Whether your interest is hiking, fishing, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, jet boating, observing natures palate of wildflowers, or just plain relaxing with family and friends, we have what you are looking for.

Wilderness Gateway Lodge

Our history goes back to 1978, when Boulder Creek Outfitters started up business in the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness Area.  Since that time, we have expanded to include ranches in both the Clearwater and Salmon River regions of Idaho.  We've come full circle in 1998, for this past spring we put in a brand spanking new cedar-clad lodge, complete with the comforts of home.  The only difference between it and home is that it is in the middle of what is arguably the best pristine wilderness in the United States.

White Bird Guest Ranch

Another of our favorite Idaho places is our White Bird Guest Ranch, located in the heart of Hells Canyon, River of No Return area.  Well-known for the mighty Snake and Salmon Rivers, it has long been a hot spot for whitewater rafting, jet boating and fishing.  The Hells Canyon gorge straddles the Idaho-Oregon border and is about 125 miles long and has a maximum depth of approximately 2,410 feet.  While you are on the river, take note that it is the deepest river gorge in the United States, it's reputation grounded by the sheer beauty of blue river weaving through miles of canyon and rock wall.  Along the way, you may be rewarded with sightings of Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer and wild mountain sheep grazing along the river banks.  Indian petroglyphs carved into the rock canyon walls present a little sideshow of history.  Throw in a fishing line for a chance at Salmon, Steelhead, and the mighty Sturgeon.

From our ranch at White Bird, we saddle up some gentle sure-footed horses and ride into Idaho's picturesque back country.  Your cook will have prepared all a tasty sack lunch for the journey.

Features of the ranch include our large, main, cedar "bunk-house," which can accommodate large groups as well as those who prefer separate bedroom facilities.  Our main ranch house, from which our meals are served, also has two private bedrooms.  Other amenities are big screen TV, whirlpool bathtub, sauna, a huge covered riding arena, from which you enjoy volleyball, badminton, a game of horse-shoes, or maybe an impromptu softball game.
